Central Junior Varsity vs Boswell Junior Varsity
September 1, 2011 The Central Junior Varsity Football took on the Boswell Pioneers Thursday night. The Pioneers caught a 30 yard pass that set up the first score of the game in the 1st quarter. The Chargers next drive ended quickly and gave the Pioneers great field position again. Boswell threw a slant route for the 2nd score of the game. The 1st quarter ended with the Chargers in a 14-0 deficit. The Central’s offense started to come alive on their next drive. Corey Beahm scrambled out of the pocket and connected with Andrew Dillard for 30 yards. Central did not make it to the end zone, but they gained confidence that paid off later in the game. The defensed stepped up the rest of the game and shut the Boswell offense for the rest of the game. Matt McQuillan came up with a big punt block that gave us good field position. Corey Beahm ran for a score in the 3rd Quarter making cutting the lead in half, 14-7. This ended up being the final score. The standout players of the game were Corey Beahm, Denis Popov, Ty Webb, Nathan Hampton, and Gilbert Gomez. Central’s next opponent will be Lewisville next Thursday.

Vs.
Keller

The Charger Junior Varsity football team played Keller Indians on Thursday night. The Chargers lost 19-0. The 1st quarter ended 0-0. The Charger defense was swarming to the ball and the Indians could not get things going. The Charger Special teams gave up 2 touchdowns on a punt return and a block punt. The Charger offense had some promising drives but did not get any points out of them. Players of the game were Matt McQuillan, Gilbert Gomez, and Justin Manuatu. The Chargers will host the Saginaw Ruff Riders Thursday night at the Central High School Football Field.

Central Chargers
Vs.
Newman Smith Trojans

Gold: 16 to 0 - Crimson: 27 to 0

The Central Chargers played the N.Smith Trojans on Wednesday for the first game of the year and came away victorious. The Gold team won 16 to 0 with great offensive performances by Sam Helsey and Cail. The opening kickoff was returned 70 yards by Cail to put the chargers on top early. The offense scored later in the second quarter to extend the lead and the defense was able to complete the shutout and even add a safety. The Crimson team was able to start fast and finish strong against the Trojans. The offense was able to score early and often behind the strong playing of McClurg and Scott, along with a solid performance by the offensive line. The defense played great and was able to hold the Trojans to minimal yardage and zero points. The Chargers played well and will have to continue to get better as the season progresses.


Gold 14-8

The Central Chargers played the Keller Indians on Thursday for the first district game of the year and both teams came away victorious. Running back Zaccheus Cail ran all over the Indians and quarterback Sam Helsley connected with Jordi Henrotin for a 30 yard touchdown. Corner back Salah Mohamed finished the game off with a late 4th quarter interception. The Crimson team was able to score early and often behind the strong playing of the offensive line dominance and the running of Reggie Scott and Chris Williams. The defense played great and was able to hold the Indians to minimal yardage and zero points. Defensive standouts were Danny McGuire and LJ Mason. The Chargers played well and will have to continue to get better as the season progresses.

Crimson: 27 to 0

The Crimson team was able to score early and often behind the strong playing of the offensive line dominance and the running of Reggie Scott and Chris Williams. The defense played great and was able to hold the Indians to minimal yardage and zero points. Defensive standouts were Danny McGuire and LJ Mason. The Chargers played well and will have to continue to get better as the season progresses.
